I and a hunch many bento blogs would be full of rabbits and eggs this Easter week so I decided to try something a little different. I kept things springy with a baby birdy bento. It ended up so sweet with only about 10 minutes worth of work!
Here is how I did it. I made the birds' nest with a circle cookie cutter. I used the same cutter to cut the dip out of the top of the peanut butter and jelly nest. To make the nest look more nesty (I totally make up own words as needed) I spread a little more peanut butter on top and then sprinkled on Kellogg's All Bran Cereal. The PB is the yummiest glue I've ever tasted. (It's the only glue I have ever tasted, but I bet it would still win a glue taste test).
To make the sweety tweety birds I just drew on some Easter egg M&Ms with edible food markers. How easy is that! I placed spinach leaves under the nest to make it look suspended in a tree. The word 'tweet' is cut out of cheese. Click here to find the handy dandy mini letter cutters.
The top right compartment has green grapes. They are egg shaped too. I was tempted to draw birdy faces on them also but I thought that might be over doing it. I have a making-faces-out-of-food obsession :) The bottom right is yogurt with bird seed sprinkles. Actually they are chocolate coated sunflower seeds, safe for people lunch!
If you are new to Bobbi's Bentos stop over and 'like' it on Facebook, join this site, or follow it on Pinterest. What the hay, if you are feeling adventerous do it all :)
My bento blogging friends and I are hosting a Bunny Blog Hop! Don't stop here! Check out a bunch more spring and Easter themed lunches by clicking on the bunny. Up next is my homegirl Sarah over at Bentoriffic. Her lunches are fantastical! Well go on, hippity hop on over! ~ This hop should be live mid-day Wednesday so check back!
