Do you know how cupcakes come with those plastic toppers? Many of them are rings. I use to throw them away when my kids were not looking because I hate "junk". Now that I'm a bento making mama, I save them for lunches. Sometimes we need to rethink the obvious. Instead of seeing a cupcake topper or junk toy, try a rolled up deli meat holder or string cheese ring :)
I purchased these squirrel cupcake topper rings. Those nutty squirrels look so cute. I rolled up turkey and slid the ring around it. I also unwrapped a piece of string cheese and slid a little fella around that too. I placed them on top of spinach leaves. A squirrel's favorite treat is nuts. I was fresh out of acorns :) so I added almonds to the lunch.

ReplyDeleteAnother idea, maybe some people wouldn't like this, but if the cupcake ring topper is small enough you could cut off the ring part, sand it down and then make it into a bento pick! :)
